How can individuals play a part in pollution and climate change prevention? Education will help citizens affect their own environment and the environment around the world. The Union of Concerned Scientists’ article entitled “Ten Personal Solutions to Global Warming,” lists ways individuals can affect their personal global impact.[xiii] The list includes things such as eating less meat (specifically beef) or using cold water for laundry. Number ten simply says to consume less. The most important parts of the list are the two extra things an individual can do to make a difference: contacting policy makers about your concerns and spreading the word. These two things ensure that individuals are making an impact and looking at the bigger picture when pollution prevention and climate change extend beyond the control of just individuals.
